Smiling

I was finally able to catch a smile on camera. I love that she has her daddy's dimple.

We had our Halloween party on Saturday. It was so fun to get together with some of our friends. We had lots of fun, yummy food and decorated haunted gingerbread houses. Boys got their fill of football and baseball while the girls talked :)
Those of you who are also fans of ourbestbites.com will recognise some of the food. Diana also made lady fingers...so awesome!

Here is Brad and Chels taking care of their babies while the rest of us were in the kitchen.

Pumpkin Carving
Eric is very artistic. When it comes to carving a pumpkin he is no different. He always likes to do the real elaborate carvings. Much to his disappointment I made him choose a much simpler pattern because we didn't have a lot of time and I didn't want Ryan to get too bored during the process. Sorry babe. But I think it turned out cute!

Happy Halloween!
I was so glad I decided to make this costume. Ryan absolutely loved it. It was so fun to see him run around in it. We had a great time going to Eric's school to trick-or-treat. I'm going to miss trick-or-treating this way. It's indoors so you can see all the costumes as opposed to having everyone bundled up in coats and hats. And it's quick!

This is always a great office area in the school. They always have it decorated so cute. This year it was a Harry Potter theme.

Our friend Kaitlyn also loaned us Sarah's costume. Isn't it adorable? Thanks Kaitlyn!

What a good big brother.
Ryan sure loves Sarah, maybe a little too much at times. Either way it's fun to see him interact with her.

You've got to be kidding me!
Our car was broke into last week. It was a pain to deal with the insurance, and getting it fixed with a baby that was only a week old...this makes me really want to move! I can't believe someone would do over $1200 in damage to our car just for an Ipod.

10 days old
Sarah is such a good baby! She sleeps really well, even at night and hardly cries. I feel so blessed because not only is she such a good baby but I've been able to bounce back a lot quicker than when I had Ryan.

A couple of days after we brought Sarah home she had to be put on this bilibed since her jaundice had gotten worse. It was hard to not be able to cuddle as much as we wanted to with her for a few days.

Here are some pictures of when my mom came to help us when we had Sarah.

I was planning on posting all these pictures with more details on labor/delivery earlier but having a newborn with a two-year-old is a little time consuming :).

Here's the story:

My right foot swelled Wednesday night (Sept. 2nd) and I didn't think too much about it because it had happened a couple times prior and it always returned back to a normal size by morning. But this time it didn't go down. My foot continued to swell and by Thursday evening I become more concerned. Swelling in both feet during pregnancy is pretty common but when it's only in one leg they worry about blood clots.
Eric and I were trying to decide whether I should go to the emergency room to get it checked out but I really didn't want to have to wait in the emergency room for hours because I had an appointment the next morning.
Fortunately the contractions I had been having all day started to become more consistent and painful. I had been having a lot of false labor so normally would have done what I usually did...wait it out. But because I was dilated to a 3-4 my last appointment and I had a swollen foot we went ahead and went to the hospital around 10:30. When we got there they hooked me up to the monitor and sure enough I continued to contract frequently and when they checked me; I was dilated to a five. So they kept me there and got me all ready to go. I got an epidural right away. And from there everything went great. I pushed for about 10 minutes and she was here. (I had to push twice as long with her than with Ryan) I don't know how anyone can push any longer than that...I was exhausted!!

Soon after having Sarah I had an ultra sound on my leg and everything looked fine. No blood clots.

Here is Sarah right after she was born

Going home.

Ryan was not quite sure what to think about this other little person being in the car, coming home with us. As you can see, he did not want his picture taken.

Introducing:
Sarah Lynn May

Born: September 4th, 7:36 a.m. (Eric's birthday)
Weight: 8 lb 13 oz
Length: 20 in.

I was preparing to have Ryan look instantly bigger when we had this baby but if anything she makes him look small! She weighed 2 lbs more than he did at birth...good thing I didn't carry to week 40!

It's been so fun to see Ryan with his new little sister; he is so sweet with her.

We can't get enough of those big, kissable cheeks!
